I have a tan - can I still have a colour session?
If you usually have a tan, real or otherwise, then yes. If it’s unusual for you, it may be better to let it fade for a week or two so we see how colours will usually look on you.
Can my colours change over time?
Contrary to popular belief, your colours can change for a variety of reasons including becoming more muted through aging and dramatic hair colour changes. The tonal method is wonderful because it allows for changes to the clarity and depth of your features. Your undertone will usually stay the same, but undertone is not always as important as you may have been told - particularly if your skin, hair and eye colours are closer to neutral on the temperature spectrum.
I’m losing weight - should I wait to book my session?
Definitely not! I have been on one diet or another for decades and if I waited for a magical end point, I’d never invest in myself! Feeling better in the right colours may actually motivate other changes you’re working on too.
Working with your new palette may not need lots of shopping. Most people will have instinctively chosen some colours that suit them already and the changes could be as subtle as where colours are worn and how they are combined to flatter you most.
Women who are on a weight loss journey often need to buy new items to suit their changing body, so what better time is there to make sure you buy the right items?
How should I prepare for my session?
I will need to see your skintone, so you can either come without makeup or remove it at the start of the session. I always have micellar water and cotton pads available.
Many sessions involve us applying Colour Me Beautiful makeup products that suit your colouring, and you are welcome to bring your own products to put on if you wish.
If you have lashes or semi-permanent makeup like microbladed brows, we can of course work with these.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes, I do! If you would prefer an online service, I will send you a guide on how the session will work when you book.
Are there particularly good times to have a colour analysis session?
It can be a wonderful, affirming experience at any time, though clients often come to see me when:
they have had a weight change and are about to shop for a new wardrobe
they need advice as their hair begins to grey or they are considering a big change for their hair
they are planning a significant life change, such as beginning their career, getting a promotion, entering retirement or starting to date
they feel in need of an update to their appearance
they want to treat themselves, or are being treated by someone else!
Do you use the tonal method?
Yes, I drape using the tonal method. I believe this method is best starting point as it is not reliant on warm or cool undertone as a dominant factor. This is helpful for people who are closer to neutral on the undertone scale or have undertone as a secondary factor.
I have also worked with the seasonal method and can assess you using that method too!
