“Shelley made me feel at ease straight away and she was very knowledgable about what colours suited me. She explained everything as we went along and answered all my questions and I enjoyed the session. I love my new palette and take it every time I go shopping now. I’d never had my make-up done before and I loved it. Shelley showed me how to use concealer and now I use it every day. ”

“I really enjoyed my appointment with Shelley and I learned so much. I could actually see the difference it made in the mirror as soon as she put on my colours! She took the time to give lots of information about things like my contrast level and my best metals for jewellery. I love red lipstick and she showed me a better red that suited me so much more. I would definitely recommend getting your colours done with Shelley!”

“My daughter and I got our colours done together and it was great. Shelley is lovely, so warm and friendly, and she felt like an old friend by the end of our time together. It amazing to see the differences our colours made and knowing our what suits us will help us shop better from now on.”

“I’m so happy with my colour palette. I’m trying to shop more sustainably and I want to buy things that will last, so knowing the colours are right for me is important. Shelley was so welcoming and knew loads about tonal colours and the 12 seasons system too. ”

I definitely don’t lack clothes. I’ve kept almost everything — my daughters now wear pieces I had 30+ years ago, back when I was three stone lighter. I love charity shops, volunteer at a monthly jumble sale, and discovered Vinted (which was supposed to be for selling… but I started buying too — oops). My wardrobe is organised by colour, but completely crammed.

Life has changed a lot in the past five years:

  • I’m no longer brunette — I discovered, after 50+ years, that I’m now platinum/silver/blonde

  • I no longer start the day in dog-walking clothes (after 13 years)

  • I’ve taken up strength training — I’m stronger, even if still a size 16+

  • I’ve semi-retired, which means more social events

  • And… I’ve lost confidence in how to dress for occasions. I don’t want to look mumsy. Or like I’m trying too hard.

Enter Shelley. I told her I didn’t want to go shopping. I wanted to make the most of what I already had. She didn’t flinch — she just asked me to tell her about the 7 (well, actually 10) upcoming events I needed to dress for. These included:

  • My elderly uncle’s funeral (no black allowed)

  • Boogie festival on the beach

  • Two outdoor music events

  • Our 30th wedding anniversary party

  • A special anniversary lunch at The Savoy

  • A romantic hotel stay with wine tasting

  • A weekend away with friends (including country walks and dinners out)

And would you believe it? We found outfits for all of them — right in my wardrobe. We added little tags to remind me what to wear for each event. No more last-minute panics.

Then we went through the rest of my wardrobe. Shelley encouraged me to try things on, to see what still fit or flattered — and what didn’t. It quickly became obvious which colours no longer worked for me since embracing my silver hair and post-50 palette. She even offered a (completely respectful) body shape analysis — which helped her suggest the right cuts and lines for me.

The result? I’m more confident in my colours. More relaxed about my shape. And no longer feel like a scruffy dog-walker playing dress-up. I’m not buying anything new — and thanks to selling unwanted pieces and returning things in time, I’ve actually covered the cost of working with Shelley. Best of all, I feel good leaving the house again.

Thank you, Shelley — for helping me rediscover what suits me, and how to enjoy dressing again. I can’t recommend you highly enough.
